Workplace Learning Programme
The workplace programme is delivered by SDTN.
This programme will promote and support matching students with suitable and valuable professional industry work placements as part of their formal studies, addressing barriers of cost and location, by providing:
Work Placement Finder service
Travel Bursary fund
PLEASE NOTE: The fund is now closed for 2018/19 and 6 bursaries have been awarded.
Our most recent recipient of the Travel Bursary was Samantha Rae who had a work experience placement at the Victoria Palace Theatre. Check out her blog here.
Who Can Apply?
Students who are enrolled on a technical theatre or creative production course (HNC/SCQF Level 7 and above) in the SDTN Network of Colleges and Universities.

Work Placement Finder Service – this service runs throughout the academic year
SDTN operate a Placement Finder service for students who are enrolled on a technical theatre or creative production course (HNC/SCQF Level 7 and above) in the SDTN Network of Colleges and Universities. We can help you with your search a work placement in your subject specialism.

Travel Bursary Fund – now closed
The Travel Bursary Fund is to assist students who need to travel to a work placement. Please note this can be outside Scotland.
Funding is open is open throughout the academic year 2018/19 and the maximum award you can apply for is £100. Funding decisions are based on cost of traveling and length of placement. Please note the Travel Bursary Fund is limited.

Federation of Scottish Theatre (FST)
Future Proofing is a partnership project with FST, funded by Creative Scotland, which contributes towards a sustainable solution to the personnel shortages in Scotland within creative production, stage management and technical skills. Future Proofing supports the new generation of technicians and designers at entry level onwards and supports the continuing professional development of experienced practitioners and educators.
The project was a new development created in partnership between The Scottish Drama Training Network (SDTN) and the Federation of Scottish Theatre (FST) and led on from the previous CPTS (Creative Production and Technical Skills) partnership programme which was launched in 2013.
The programme included:

- The Recent Graduate Bursary
- A Training Fund
- Graduate Induction Programme
- School Promotions and Roadshows
- Workplace Learning Programme
From this programme SDTN continues to offer and develop the Workplace Learning Programme and Travel Bursary.
