The Show Must Be Paused

Scottish Drama Training Network stands with the black and brown communities and we support Black Lives Matter.

We stand against racism.

We stand for inclusion.

We strive for diversity, equality and open access to opportunities.

We strive to keep doing better.

In response to #BlackoutTuesday with #TheShowMustBePaused campaign we have collected some anti-racism resources.

Following the murders of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor and Ahmaud Arbery and countless other black citizens at the hands of the police, along with worldwide protests to highlight the racial injustice still sickeningly prevalent in our society, a movement called #TheShowMustBePaused has been launched by music industry executives Jamila Thomas and Brianna Agyemang to demonstrate against racism and police brutality. The movement is a reaction to what they describe as the long-standing racism and inequality that exists from the boardroom to the boulevard.

This movement called for the music industry and streaming services to have a worldwide blackout on Tuesday 2nd June 2020. This extended to social media. We are looking at how we can continue to educate ourselves and so will be sharing helpful resources here.

How you can help:

— If you have been impacted by the recent events, take a break – there is a lot going on and sometimes we all just need a minute. Take that minute.

— STREAM TO DONATE: how to help with no money or leaving your house.

“This video project was created to offer people a way to donate to Black Lives Matter without having any actual money or going out to protest themselves. 100% of the ad revenue this video makes through AdSense will be donated to the associations that offer protester bail funds, help pay for family funerals, and advocacy that are listed in the beginning of the video. PLEASE share this video, make sure to leave the ads running, repeat the video, and let people know about this easy way to help. In addition to watching this video, here are some petitions to sign in relation to these tragic losses and other ways to help.”
