SDTN Radio Drama Workshop at BBC Radio Scotland

On Friday 10 November, 17 Acting and Performance students from colleges and universities across Scotland, came together at BBC Radio Scotland in Glasgow to participate in a Radio Drama workshop with Radio Director and Playwright David Ian Neville.

Students travelled from as far as Ayrshire and Inverness to work with David and his team for the day. They had the chance to record extracts from a selection of radio drama plays, as well as observe David and the production team in the control room and discuss acting techniques and skills for radio drama.

The students were put through their paces as they performed from their scripts, learning microphone and other techniques, and how sound effects and background atmospheres set the scene for the listeners.

This workshop was delivered as part of a new partnership between the Scottish Drama Training Network and BBC Radio Scotland. The next workshop will be a Radio Drama Professional Development training day for Acting and Performance lecturers from the Network Colleges and Institutions, on 13 January 2018.
