Marli Siu Nominated for Ian Charleson Award

SDTN would like to congratulate Marli Siu who has been nominated for the prestigious Ian Charleson Award for her performance as Hero in Much Ado About Nothing at Dundee Rep Theatre. Having won the Dundee Rep Graduate Scheme award in 2015, Marli was cast as Hero as a result of her graduate placement. While she was at the Dundee Rep, Marli played the lead role in the children’s show Little Red Riding Hood, and has since filmed in Still Game (BBC).

Marli is a recent graduate from one of our Network Institutions, Edinburgh Napier University (’15) where she received a first-class BA (Hons) degree in Acting and English Literature. We are delighted about the extraordinary accomplishments our Network graduates achieve.

Named after the famous British actor Ian Charleson, the Ian Charleson Awards are theatrical awards that reward the best classical stage performances in Britain by actors under the age of 30. The awards are held at the National Theatre and are joint sponsored by The Sunday Times. Established in 1990, after Charleson’s death, to commemorate his extraordinary performance of Hamlet, the awards have been awarded annually since then. We wish Marli the best of luck with her nomination.
