SDTN Conference 2016

On Thursday 29 September 2016, the Scottish Drama Training Network held the SDTN Conference 2016: Innovation and Creativity.

The Edinburgh International Festival Hub hosted the proceedings where delegates enjoyed a welcome lunch in the upstairs gallery before the conference started at 12.45pm with a welcome from outgoing SDTN Chair, Professor Emerita Maggie Kinloch.

Simon Sharkey, Associate Director of National Theatre of Scotland, delivered a Keynote setting out innovative approaches of the NTS Theatre Without Walls model before delegates were treated to an exclusive screening of Walid Salhab‘s short film Avaritia, which screened at the Cannes Film Festival 2015.

After the break, Jon Morgan, from the Federation of Scottish Theatre, facilitated a panel presentation and discussion with Queen Margaret University’s Denny Collie, Edinburgh Performing Arts Development’s Kate Taylor, Creative Carbon Scotland Director Ben Twist and award-winning Theatre Maker Jenna Watt.

Delegates then participated in a series of breakout sessions which focused on SDTN’s key themes for the year ahead:

Career Pathways
CPD for FE and HE Staff
Industry Context
Graduate Pathways

The conference was followed by a Networking Reception held in the Dunard Library.
