Postgraduate study in design for performance
Scenehouse, an international design school located in Edinburgh, offers up to 8 places a year for committed and enthusiastic applicants who wish to develop a career in design for performance. The Scenehouse programme is pitched at a post graduate level of study but also welcomes applications from mature students with a suitable set of transferable skills.
Study at Scenehouse is intensive and vocational. The programme has been created to equip students with the technical skills and working cultural knowledge to begin a career in theatre design. The programme is delivered by a dedicated team of practicing designers with many decades of experience between them.
The programme is divided into three subject areas: Design for performance (parts 1 and 2), props making and scenic art. These can be taken as a continuous 8 week programme or accessed as individual 2 week courses. Student places on the props and painting courses are limited to six individuals in order to maintain the level of practical one to one tuition. The end of the programme is scheduled to dovetail with the start of the Edinburgh International Festival Fringe, the largest arts festival in the world.
Visiting lecturers from the fields of theatre, film and television complement the core teaching, as well as extensive site visits to venues where we explore production techniques and technologies.
Fortnightly modules 9th June – 1st August 2014
Applications processed before the end of April qualify for am “Early Bird” promotion, which gives a hefty 20% discount on the standard course fees.
