Telford Students WoW and Launch New Radio Station!
Edinburgh’s Telford College is delighted to announce the launch of its new college radio, Radio WoW, which will begin broadcasting from the College’s studios from Monday 22 November 2010.
Available to listen online at www.radiowow.co.uk, Radio WoW is the creation of the ‘HNC Creative Industries: Radio’ staff and students, who as part of their course study digital production techniques, as well as develop the skills of interviewing, music programming, digital operations, newsroom operations and radio commercials production.
Explaining more, Radio Broadcasting Lecturer, Conor Wright said:
“This radio broadcasting course at Telford is specifically designed to provide learners with a wide range of skills needed for a career in the radio industry anywhere in the world. For over 10 years we have been broadcasting in the College and for the past two years broadcasting online. This year however, it’s all going to get bigger, better and louder. There’s a new face, a new name, and a new group of students who want to make it easier for everyone at the College and beyond to hear the station’s output and to get involved in the radio station.”
One of the radio students on the course, Callum Gallacher said:
“It will be WoW Radio – Your voice, your music. We believe radio broadcasting should involve the input of the listener as much as it involves the input of the producers and presenters – this way giving the people exactly what they want to hear. WoW originated from our student handbook, which is entitled Words of Wisdom, so we thought people should listen because it will bring them what they want, when they want. It will bring them the music they want, the chat they want and the entertainment they want!”
