Riona Gilliland is one of four SDTN Network students to be selected by the British Council to take part in the Rio Olympics Backstage to the Future project. Find out what she had to say about her upcoming journey:

 

Have you had any previous work experience like this before?

I’ve never done anything like this project before!

 

What are you looking forward to most about the project?

Working with well renowned companies and getting the chance to travel to Rio.

 

What are you hoping to gain from the project? What would you like to specialise in?

I’m hoping to gain some more experience, especially in Stage Management. Also working on another dance project. I enjoyed working with the dance students during my time at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland.

 

What are your career ambitions? How does this fit in with your career goals?

I’m hoping to have a successful career in Stage Management and get to travel the world and experience lots of different cultures. So this fits in perfectly!

 

What does this opportunity mean to you?

It’s an excellent way to start off my professional career after graduating. It’s also an opportunity to make new contacts and friends!

 

What’s the furthest you’ve travelled before?

 I’ve never been out of Europe before so this will be very different and exciting for me!
