HND Technical Theatre
I had originally applied and interviewed for an interview for an HNC in Audio Engineering, which I attained a place on the waiting list for. When I was on the waiting list Nick Green, who is head of Audio Engineering at Perth College, suggested that I should apply for the HNC Technical Theatre course. I had recently been to see the West End production Wicked in London and remembered feeling completely blown away by the performance, it inspired me to want to do the same and so Technical Theatre felt like the right choice. Since then I have been in my niche and enjoyed studying more than ever.
The Audio Department at Perth College is very well established and has a good reputation. I also was already very familiar with the campus because I had spent two years studying Hospitality.
My favourite thing about my current course is the open time that is allotted to us on a Wednesday evening. We get the chance to set up a sound system and experiment with effect racks, graphic EQ’s and other sound equipment. It is a great opportunity for me to hone my sound skills as well as having a bit of a play.
My main inspiration is musical theatre performances and the stories that they tell. I really enjoy watching the shows because of the technical details but mostly because of the music.
Seize every opportunity!
After I have finished my course in Technical Theatre, I hope to start working in the industry immediately. I already have casual work in Edinburgh with NL Productions and I’m hoping to hear back soon from some jobs that I applied to on the Edinburgh Festival Fringe.< Browse All Profiles
