Stow College
Welcome
Stow College Performing Arts is located at the beautiful Hotspur Street Campus in the heart of the West End of Glasgow. A vibrant and professional atmosphere exists in the renovated 19th century building which includes a training theatre, 2 dance studios, 5 performance studios, a technical theatre workshop and set store, 4 practice rooms, numerous computer labs, canteen, student services and excellent parking facilities. All performing Arts courses are based in this building consisting in NQ, HNC, HND and Degree level qualifications in acting, dance, musical theatre and technical theatre.
For ten years Stow College has been educating performing arts students to the highest standards and have graduates performing in the professional industry all over the country including Aspects of Love, Starlight Express, Wicked and Legally Blonde, as well as students appearing in productions at the Citizens Theatre, Dundee Rep and the Tron Theatre to name but a few.
Stowaways is the name given to the production company that produces all of the College’s Musicals, Plays and Dance Shows performed by NQ to Degree level students studying within the Music and Creative Industries Department at Stow West. Over the last ten years we have produced over one hundred different productions in venues across Scotland ranging from Gilmorehill, East Kilbride Theatre and Arts Centre, The Ramshorne Theatre, Motherwell Theatre and Rutherglen Town hall. Over 2000 students have featured in our productions, which are stage managed and technically produced by our Technical Theatre Students (who are kept increasingly busy). The productions are produced and directed by the Stow West team of Theatre Staff including leading professionals taken from across Scotland. The students work together across subject areas to create high quality productions and performances, which is all part of their course work.
We take pride in allowing our students to study in a “real world environment” and work closely in association with professional theatres and practitioners.
