City of Glasgow College - Riverside Campus
Welcome
City of Glasgow College provides three years of drama training, from NC Acting & Theatre Performance, through HNC Acting & Performance and HND Acting & Performance.
The courses are highly practical and provide students with the opportunities to develop the necessary skills for progression on to further training or entry into the performing arts professions. The core subjects of acting, voice and movement are taught throughout, at all levels. As an introductory course the NC in Acting & Performance (SQA SCQF level 6) provides a set of units which allow the student to develop performance skills in voice, movement acting and stagecraft, plus additional skills including developing an understanding of theatre practice, developing professional attitudes and developing confidence to perform to potential. The HNC and HND courses (SCQF levels 7 & 8) deliver the core units of acting, voice, movement and production plus additional units including the study of texts, script writing, improvisation, workshops, theatre history, singing and community drama.
Courses are delivered by staff who are trained and experienced in their fields. The atmosphere is one of support, discipline and encouragement. Former students have gone on to study at accredited drama schools such as RSAMD, RADA, Central, Bristol Old Vic and Arts Ed., while others have gone straight into the industry as actors and theatre professionals.
