Monday 8 May
11:30am – 4.00pm
In 2016 Youth Theatre Arts Scotland (YTAS) launched two new Forums to support sector and art form development. The forums are for experienced Youth Theatre Directors and Managers who want to push their own practice and work with other professionals on sector-wide opportunities.
The Forums take place bi-annually and include a specialist masterclass or case-study, networking and a facilitated exchange session. The fee to attend the Forums is minimal (or free in some cases). YTAS hopes these new Forums will be an exciting place where Scotland’s Youth Theatre Directors and Managers can meet to inspire their work and influence national developments.
The next ‘Directors Forum’ will take place on Monday 8 May, 11:30am – 4.00pm at The Traverse Theatre.
The morning master class will be hosted by The Traverse Theatre’s Artistic Director Orla O’Loughlin. During the session Orla will explore her approach to directing through discussion and practical examples and share her experience working with new plays and playwrights, outside and inside the rehearsal room. Orla will also share her journey from working as a teacher in schools to working as an award-winning director and the opportunities which supported her transition.
After lunch the Forum Directors will share their own experience of being a Director of young people in Scotland; the opportunities, challenges and possibilities that exist in this area of work and ways they can support each other’s ideas and development
The fee to attend the ‘Directors Forum’ is £20 to YTAS Members. Members will benefit from the staff discount in the Traverse bar for lunch on the day.
There are only 20 places available for the Forum so interested professionals are encouraged to book early. This event is accessible to wheelchair users.
